‘Untitled: Women’s Work, is an interdisciplinary, multimedia work of scholarly art. While policy conversations about employment are ubiquitous and there is a plethora of scholarship on all aspects of labour, the physicalised experience of working in all its complexities is often lost.
This film documents Adesola Akinleye’s dance-based research process into the lived experience of women in the Flint and Detroit areas. The research attempts to take the body seriously when we talk about women’s work/what makes a ‘good’ job. Both scholarly art and artistic research, Untitled: Women’s Work uses narrative inquiry, dance and film as research methodologies as well as tradition deskwork.’
