The film Pond explores the life in a thimbleful of water taken from an ancient Dorset pond. Using the resolution offered by high definition filming and a microscope, a world is revealed that is normally invisible to the normal gaze.
We wanted to explore this environment from a standpoint not of scientific information and explanation but one of sheer awe and wonder.
We discovered form, colours and activities that seem curiously close to our own ways of inter-relating.
The sound in the film is thanks to the generosity of sound artist David Toop and friends who both allowed us to initially remix their amazing soundscapes and then wrote specific scores for the final piece.
